From looking around at the teen book sites it seems to me that publishers are sticking with two things. The coming of age theme(Secret Ingredient by Sarah Dessen) and the fantasy paranormal (Goddess from Harper and Renegade from Macmillan Tor) It looks as if most publishers are moving along a similar path.
I've always read teen fiction, but I guess I never thought of myself as an "adult" reading teen fiction. The first time I noticed an actual adult reading teen fiction was in 1998 as a Lib trainee at CA. An elderly man asked for the teen section. I guess I looked a bit surprised because he explained saying he enjoyed reading teen because they were "good stories". There are so many t.v. shows & movies that are taken from teen titles - that's one of the reasons why so many adults are asking for them, though they're not always aware that they are teen. I've often said I read like a 14 yr. old boy. ;-)
